Best Travel Locations For A Family Vacation

How to find good locations for your family to travel on a vacation.

A family vacation is a great investment because you may need a couch or new carpet but the furniture or the carpet will wear out; but the memories made on a family vacation will last a life time and only grow better with age.

Now where you take your pre-teens may depend on what you want to do or what they like to do.

In my opinion, here are a few of the top 10 family vacations.

Hawaii, go here for your family vacation to enjoy beautiful white sand beaches, towering waterfalls, whales, dolphins, volcanoes and more activities than I could possibly mention.

Washington DC, this family vacation would be educational as your kids would see so much history their head would spin. But if you get your kids involved in researching the different

Museums and historical sights, let them choose which ones they want to visit, you will be surprised how excited they will get about what they are going to see.

Costa Rica, this is one of my favorite family vacation destinations for those that like adventure and nature. Costa Rican’s are so friendly and proud, they want share their beautiful country with you.

While drifting down a river you will see trees full of howling monkeys, toucans and other colorful birds, crocodiles and lizard like creatures that seem to walk on water. On this family vacations you can

Visit frog farms at night and zip through the tree tops during the day or simply relax at the beach.

Gulf Shores Alabama State Park, if you want to stay in the US , this is a wonderful family vacation. It has gorgeous beaches, fishing, skiing, nature hikes, golf and swimming, just to name a few of the things to do.

Colorado Springs area, also a great family vacation spot in the US . Here you can white water raft, horseback ride, go to a cowboy dinner, pan for gold, rock climb; and the list goes on.

Disney, this is a given. But don’t forget about Disney in California . It is smaller, but there are so many other things to do in the area that it is a fantastic trip for a family vacation.

Cruises, kids love cruises because they have special activities on board for the different age groups and they make friends and before the cruise is over they will want to have sleep-overs.

Dude Ranches, Texas , Colorado , Wyoming are a few states that have Dude Ranches. These are about the closest thing in the US to an ‘all-inclusive’ family vacation. Here you can go on trail rides, tube float down a river, watch and sometime participate in a good old fashion rodeo. And most all meals and activities are included in the price. Activities that are included vary.

Riviera Maya, Mexico, this area has some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico and amazing all-inclusive resorts. Choose the right resort and your kids will never lack for something to do. They can go snorkeling, build sand castles, sail on a sunfish, slide on huge water park slides and all of this is included in the price along with all meals and drinks.

Smuggler’s Notch, VT, Located in beautiful mountains, while on this family vacation your family can spend time together mountain biking, fishing, swimming, canoeing, skateboarding, painting, making jewelry, playing golf or just being quiet and enjoying the scenery around you.

I would always check into purchasing a good travel insurance for your family travel because you never know when you will need it. I always tell my clients ‘travel insurance is one of those expenses that if you purchase it and don’t need it, then you feel it was a waste of money; but if you don’t purchase it and loose all of your money or need the medical part of the insurance while on your tripFree Reprint Articles

A Real Vacation from Life

October 29, 2010

A Real Vacation from LifeEnlarge Image

There have been many times in my life where I, and many others I know, have wanted to get away from it all. The need to escape that frustration and annoyance of reality has hit many. That desire for a vacation usually manifests itself in many different ways. One way this vacation itch manifests itself is when the stress levels are high and you have piles of work that keep coming you suddenly stop caring. You don’t care about you responsibilities anymore and you just want to curl up under your bed or snap completely and become that postal worker that everyone fears. Another way you know that you need a vacation is while you are at work time seems to stop. You are working at your computer and you think “hey, I’ve been working forever like an hour or something.” However, you come to the horrible realization as you look at the clock that it has only been two minutes and you break down into tears fearing that work will never end.

If you have experienced any of those symptoms or anything similar to them, it is probably time to take a vacation. However, I feel that I must make a confession; I have never been on a vacation. I am talking about a real vacation, going somewhere that I picked out and doing things that I wanted to do. I have been in school for my entire life and when I get time off I am usually working so that I can pay bills or I try to visit my family. When I have been able to go on a vacation they have always consisted of family vacations. Family vacations are great and the memories and black mail stories will always be something that I will look fondly on. However, when you are done with the family time you usually need another vacation to recover from all the family fun and togetherness.

I need a vacation. I need to escape reality and go somewhere where there are no responsibilities on my part. But where do I start? Where would I go? And once I got there what would I do? The romantic that I am dreams of just jumping in my car and taking off with no plans, no rules and just fly by the seat of my pants to see where life will take me. However, the practical part of me knows that actually planning something out will be more effective and will cause less hassles and stress. I am a pretty easy going person, but I need to have some structure. So, armed with nothing but an idea I decided to hit the internet because it has everything that you could possible need to plan a great vacation.

One of the first things that I needed to do in planning my vacation is picking where I would like to go. For me it seems that every week it changes, I just want to leave and go somewhere. This week it is Cape Cod. I have always heard about this mysterious place in Massachusetts, but I have no information about it. I just hear from everyone that if I go I need to try the clam chowder. I don’t even like clam chowder, but apparently I need to try it.

Now, that I have a place I need to figure out how to get there. Me, personally I like to fly, it’s easier and often times cheaper. Finding flights have become easy with the help of such sites like Travelocity, Expedia or Priceline. What I have found is that you need to try them all and get quotes from many sources because they tend to change on a regular basis. Some of these sites even have e-mail alerts where they will e-mail you information on the price of flights on places where you picked that you wanted to go. It’s really a nice and convenient way to keep track of your possible flights without having to check the individual site everyday.

Now that you have your flight, it is now time to find a place to stay and find that perfect entertainment in your vacation destination. Some sites will try and book a hotel and a flight together because it can be easier and cheaper. But I would suggest seeing if the place that you are going has a website. That is usually the best resource for finding lodging, dining spots and what to do in the city or place once you get there. For Cape Cod they have Cape Cod online and it is a great resource for everything Cape Cod. They have web cams, dining guides, hotel guides, entertainment guides all in one location. Almost every place that you can imagine to go to has a website with information about the area. Some of course are better than others and some make you work a little for the information you want.

I guess the advice that I would have to give it that you vacation seekers is to try and have patience, remain optimistic when searching for information online and try not to shoot that co-worker that stands way too close and only talks about what his fish did the night before.

DWVC’s Top 5 Holiday Vacation Spots for the Christmas Season – PART I

Everybody’s busy nowadays since the Christmas Season is fast approaching and many are now planning where to spend a well deserved holiday vacation with their families and loved ones. To help you out, some of our DWVC members have contributed their most exciting Christmas vacation experiences and here are the TOP 10 vacation spots that they have recommended that our clients can choose from:

I. BAHAMAS – By Keith Martin
As a member of Designer Way Vacation Club (DWVC), you can have an unforgettable Christmas by booking a week’s holiday starting Monday 24th of December in Nassau either online at dwvc or by phoning your account manager at Timelinx’s reservation office. Even in December you can expect temperatures from 26°C during the day to 18°C at night and under 2″ of rain throughout the whole month. For absolute luxury the Hilton British Colonial Hotel is hard to beat. DWVC can offer a week’s bed and breakfast for two adults and two children in a Colonial room for £847. Booking through an online agent South Travel, you would be paying £1,571 for the same room and dates but excludes breakfast. DWVC is £724 or more than 45% cheaper.

The hotel may look familiar to any James Bond fans reading this, as it appeared in both “Thunderball” and “Never say never again”. It is ideally located on a beautiful private beach and is situated within 5 minutes walk of Nassau’s shopping and financial centre. The hotel offers an array of recreational facilities, including a private beach, freshwater swimming pool overlooking the ocean, full fitness centre, lush tropical gardens, non-motorized water sports, snorkelling and scuba facilities and shops. Golf is also available nearby. The hotel also offers various bars which include, the Blue Note Club which offers a unique flavour of Jazz and other contemporary music, The Palm Court Lounge is the perfect spot within the hotel to enjoy our their famous “Time 4 Tea” in a relaxed atmosphere, Portofino is a casual restaurant located on the first floor, serves Italian favourites with a Caribbean flare, The Patio Grill And Pool Bar, whether you’re sampling one of the many tropical mixtures, or diving into a tantalizing sandwich, there couldn’t be a better place to be.
The rooms are decorated in tasteful Caribbean style furnishings and feature an en-suite bathroom, mini bar, oversized desk and safe.

Due to its close proximity to Florida, if you have a young family, you could combine your visit to the Bahamas with a trip to Orlando to partake in the Christmas build up at Disney and the likes. After a week or two in Orlando, most people would need a week to unwind. Again you can get net cost accommodation with DWVC and have your account manager at Timelinx book/tie in all your flights and activities.
From Nassau, cross the bridge to Paradise Island where beaches are first- class and the resort selection is excellent — from upscale chic on stately estate grounds, to a yoga retreat, condo facilities (great for family vacations), and large luxury properties (one with a glass tunnel for viewing marine life and a low-key water park). Activity abounds at every turn. Paradise Island has an excellent golf course and its own small airport.

Grand Bahamas, with resort development at both Freeport and Lucaya, has the same features on a smaller scale. Golf, tennis, water sports and duty-free shopping are popular and plentiful. And the island moves at a leisurely pace.

II. KOS ISLAND – Sandra Patterson
Kos sits bang in the middle of the Dodecanese chain of Greek islands that hug the Turkish coast. Kos Island is about 45km long while its width varies from 2km to 11km. This is a hugely popular resort with the British and it is a Greek island that has gone for mass market tourism is a very big way. Kos has its own airport and ferry connections. Kos is a popular island with all nationalities, with some beautiful sandy beaches and good tavernas it’s well worth a visit. The coast of Kos is swept by magnificent sandy beaches and the island has some of the most interesting archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. The combination of sand and sightseeing give Kos a uniquely broad appeal, though most visitors will probably prefer island beaches to Greek history and, for an all in beach holiday, Kos must be considered one of the best of the Greek islands. There are many empty coastal areas to be enjoyed by those who prefer to get away from the holiday crowds.

Members of DWVC (Designer Way Vacation Club) have access to net cost accommodation at numerous resorts in Kos. One such resort is the Alexandra Hotel, a weeks bed and breakfast for two in Nov would cost just £311 to members. To put that price into perspective it would cost a non member £599.90 booking through an online operator. DWVC is £288.90 or around 48% cheaper!
The hotel is an upgraded A class town hotel with high standards. The interior has recently been enlarged and redecorated in order to offer luxury and comfort to the guests. It has a conference room with 140 person capacity, pool, three modern lifts, comfortable and luxurious bar and a reception. The Hotel Alexandra has 62 guest rooms. All rooms are equipped with a balcony, air conditioning, mini bar, coffee machine, satellite TV, safety deposit box, music, telephone and internet, WC and a hair dryer. Breakfast is served in a buffet style. The hotel’s bar is the perfect venue to enjoy a cocktail and unwind or the place to meet for a pre-dinner drink. The hotel features a fully equipped fitness centre with the best gym equipment which is complemented by a separate sauna and Jacuzzi.

III. GOLF DEL SUR – Keith Martin
Ever since it’s 1987 inaugural event, a competition for professionals, the 27 greens and fairways of Golf del Sur have provided the backdrop for various international tournaments. In 1989 they bore witness to Jose Maria Olazabal´s victory in the Open de Tenerife, a feat he repeated in 1992. The following year they watched as David Gilford won the event, as did Mark James in 1994. In 1995, Golf del Sur hosted the Shell Wonderful World of Golf tournament and its head to head battle between Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson. Golf del Sur has also been the setting for two golf driving distance records, both of which were set by Britain’s Karl Woodward. First he set a new record of 398 yards and then, a few months later, he managed to break the legendary 400-yard barrier with a huge stroke, which sent the ball flying 408 yards. This Tenerife golf course, designed by Pepe Gancedo, is a thoroughly enjoyable layout in which one’s attention is immediately caught by the black volcanic sand in the bunkers. The wide fairways are lined with such a wide variety of indigenous plants that, with it’s palm trees and giant cactus plants, this 800 square meter course beside the Atlantic Ocean is like a veritable oasis.
Particularly difficult is the 3rd hole of the course. To the right of the wide fairway is a water hazard, behind which lies an impressive ravine with an ochre-coloured rock face, while to the left is a gaping bunker of black sand. You can dine in the Buffet El Patio which provides a selection of meals, all served buffet style. There is also a snack bar on site, La Corbeta and a number of other bars and restaurants including Legends Bar, The Sundowner Pub and the Caddyshack. You have a choice of three swimming pools, a main pool, a smaller pool (which is heated in winter) and a children’s pool. There is also a large sunbathing deck equipped with free sunbeds for you to relax. For the more energetic there is a tennis court or table tennis.

The apartments are good sized and bright, tastefully furnished and comfortable. They have a kitchenette which comprises of hob, fridge/ freezer, cooking utensils, bathroom with bath and shower. A TV and safety deposit box can be hired at an additional cost, also cots or highchairs can be hired. All apartments have a large private balcony or terrace. This charming resort is situated on the southern coastline and is not only a golfers paradise but is also ideal for family holidays and couples looking for a relaxing break. You can spend your days relaxing and soaking up the sun on the new pebble beach and when the sun gets too hot you can cool down with a drink from the beach bar. There is an excellent selection of restaurants and bars here but if you are looking for something a little more lively then Playa De La Americas and Los Cristianos are a short distance away where you will find a vibrant atmosphere with everything you need for your entertainment.

IV. ALGARVE, SOUTHERN PORTUGAL – Keith Martin
The Algarve, in Southern Portugal, with its year-round sunshine, miles of golden sand beaches, and picturesque villages, has become one of Europe’s most popular golfing destinations. But while there are many courses suiting all abilities, the Algarve is also perfect for non golfers, especially the eastern region around Tavira, with its stunning nature walks. At the other end of the scale, resorts such as Vilamoura and Vale do Lobo are mega destinations with all the golfing and sporting options you could want. Then, in Western Algarve, around the bustling holiday destination of Albufeira, you can holiday 24/7, combining championship golf with a hectic nightlife.

Golf holidaymakers should check out the renowned Pinta, one of the best courses in the Algarve, designed to retain natural valleys and undulations. Vale do Lobo, Portugal’s biggest luxury golf and beach resort, around 20 minutes from the airport at Faro, is one of Europe’s finest. Its two golf courses, the Royal and Ocean, provide stunning views of the coast, and its 5 km-long sandy beach, with dramatic red sandstone cliffs, provides non-golfers with seriously good beach and swimming options. The resort also offers tennis courts, a gymnasium and health and beauty centre, as well as restaurants and shops. Members of DWVC (Designer Way Vacation Club) can get a weeks accommodation at Barringtons Golf and Health Spa for two from now until 31st of March 2008 for just £105. Barringtons Golf and Health Spa is centrally located within the Vale do Lobo 1,000 acre estate, Barringtons provides the complete holiday experience. The hotel is only a short walk from the pristine golden beaches of the Atlantic Ocean and some of the best golf courses in Europe.

The hotel offers fabulous year round facilities set amidst pine trees and beautifully landscaped sub tropical gardens. Whether you want a short golfing break or a two-week holiday in the sunshine, Barringtons can tailor make your holiday to suit you, giving you a complete flexibility. When the sun goes you can relax in the Beat Bar. The Eagles Café Bar at the Barringtons Golf Academy is open for breakfast, lunch and snacks. The accommodation combines both style and comfort. The superb décor and thoughtful design create a peaceful ambience in which guests can truly unwind. The rooms are furnished to the highest standards with its own private terrace. The bathrooms feature large showers and double sinks. Other amenities include a telephone, air conditioning, satellite TV and a private sun terrace. Plus when guests stay in the hotel’s accommodation, guests have club membership which includes use of all the clubs facilities. Unwind in the lap of luxury in the tranquil spa area featuring indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and solarium. The Barringtons Golf Academy is a great place to fine tune and to improve all aspects of your game. The covered floodlit driving range has target greens and bunkers, which add realism to practice sessions. The highly equipped gym features the latest Matrix cardio-vascular and weights equipment to cater for all training needs. The hotel also offers add-on courses such as pilates, yoga, ballroom dancing and kick boxing. Members of DWVC also receive a 50% discount at the Royal Vale Do Lobo golf course and a 50% discount on tennis sessions.

V. BINTAN HOTEL, INDONESIA – Allan Bond
To put all this to the test I choose one of the further flung resorts they have available and searched online to try to find like for like accommodation at a lower cost.
The resort I choose was the Bintan Lagoon Resort in Indonesia. It is a four star hotel on the north western shores of Bintan island. Quality wise the resort is very nice, set in landscaped gardens and close to the beach, it offers golf courses, leisure centre, numerous bars, cafes and restaurants. The rooms are tastefully decorated and equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, mini-bar/fridge, safe and phone. The cost for a weeks bed and breakfast in March for two as a member of DWVC is £441 all in. Conducting an extensive search online, the lowest cost I could find offering the same accommodation and dates was £574 through either asia-hotels.com or hotelclub.net. DWVC is £133 or around 23% cheaper.
The savings are there as claimed and regardless of where and how often you go on holiday, everyone likes to save money. For more information on the company you can look on their website.

About DWVC (Designer’s Way Vacation Club) A revolutionary new idea launched in 2000 as Dream Works Vacation Club, later becoming Designer Way Vacation Club when it was discovered that a very large film making company existed in the USA with a similar name; Designer Way Vacation Club is an exclusive holiday and consumer discount members club that has been growing rapidly throughout the early part of the new millennium. Family Adventure Vacation Ideas

October 25, 2010
By

With the Christmas cheer in the air, and the awaiting New Year, everyone has his or her own special plans to celebrate the end of an eventful year and welcome a new one. Often the vacation plans include spending quality time loved ones. Since there are different kinds of people in this world, there are so many different types of families across the world and every family has their signature way of celebrating holidays and planning vacations. Some families prefer cozy parties and home-cooked meals, some prefer to go out and dance and sing and then there is a third kind…Families who like to go rock-climbing, fishing, skiing, kayaking, you name it and they’ll pack their bags and be on their way to enjoy themselves in the lap of nature.

Adventure sports or adventure outings are actually a great way for families to bond and have a fun time together. If you are one of those people who are bored of the conventional vacation ideas or you are simply an adventure buff who would rather go kayaking and snowboarding rather than sitting at home during the holidays, then here is a list of adventurous ideas for the perfect vacation with your family!

Go Kayaking

Kayaking is a very popular sport, which is similar to canoeing. The Kayak only differs from a canoe in the construction and the seating position of person. Kayaking is an adventurous sport that can be enjoyed on a family vacation. Preferably members who can swim should indulge in this sport. Although non-swimmers can equally enjoy the sport since they can use their life jackets and all the kayaking resorts have their lifeguards in place.

Suggested Destinations: You can go Kayaking near the picturesqueVancouver islands. There are many tours that offer four or five day tours to the Johnstone Strait, which will offer a scenic retreat for your family. The beautiful San Juan Islands in Washington located along the Pacific coastline, which are home to the Killer whale are sure to entice and engage your family for sure. Other options might be the Florida Everglades, the Mount Desert Island at Bar Harbor, Maine or the tropical coastlines of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.

Go Hiking

If going on a trek, where you will have the climb through the hills and rocks, with your backpack is your idea of fun, then hiking is definitely the way to go! Nature trails and hiking sprees are some of the finest ways to experience the bounty of Mother Nature as you hike through some of the most charismatic hills with verdant surroundings which are coupled with the most tranquil lakes or rivers and the most dazzling waterfalls. Hiking can be a fun way, just be careful while choosing your destination, and consider the physical capabilities of all the members in your family.

Suggested Destinations: If you are looking for the ultimate hiking destination, California’s High Sierra that is home to the highest peak in USA, Mount Whitney is the place for you. Whether it’s the volcanic Mount Lassen or the Lake Tahoe, nature’s bounty will surprise you and enchant you at every step. Other options include the Yukon-Charles Rivers National Preserve in Alaska, Patagonia hiking destinations or the Inca trails in Peru or the classic Swiss Alps.

Go Camping

Pitch a tent along the quiet riverbanks, indulge in fishing or swimming by the day, cook a meal on the riverside fire, and curl up with your loved ones by the night as you sit and chat looking at the bonfire flames shimmer against the contrast of the tranquil deep blue skies. Sounds fun doesn’t it? Camping can be a great way to unwind and enjoy a fun vacation with you family. Pick out the right destination, and make sure you are carrying all your emergency supplies to last you through your stay. If you are one of those people who prefer to carry their homes with them while traveling, taking a recreational vehicle or an RV might be a good idea!

Suggested Destinations: There are a number of options, so pick the one that is most convenient to you. North America offers some of the best camping destinations. Nothing beats the Philip Edward Island, or the Flat Tops at Colorado, or the Channel Islands and Aloha Lakes in California.

Go Sailing

Nothing beats the euphoria of sailing on the azure waters as the cool wind blows through your hair and refreshes you mind and body in an instant. Sailing can be a fun experience for an entire family. In addition to sailing, you can spruce up the venture with some other water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving or fishing. In case your budget permits, you can hire a private yacht that will ensure privacy for your family. However be careful about the safety of your family members while indulging in other water sports. In case you are not familiar with the water sports, it is better to have a professional for supervision on board.

Suggested Destinations: The Caribbean waters offer the best sailing destinations and in addition to the standard cruise vacations, there are available travel packages that offer you to drop in at the near by islands and enjoy the local festivals while you are enjoying you vacation.

In addition to these activities you can also indulge in other activities like rafting, river crossing, snowboarding, or skiing. Make up your mind about the most appropriate activity and the most convenient destination, pack your bags and get ready to have the best vacation of your life! Bon Voyage!

Culinary Travel For a Satisfying Vacation

October 6, 2010
By

Every holiday involves food because we all have to eat. Still, it is one thing to grab a quick burger and fries which could have come from anywhere, another entirely to have a guide show you the best place to eat in a small European village. Culinary travel has the potential to combine many possible facets, making food an experience, not just a function.

Particular countries come to mind when exploring this kind of travel. European nations are especially popular, and those along the Mediterranean are perhaps the most popular. Along the way, tourists quickly discover that these warm Mediterranean regions grow plenty of grapes alongside other exotic flavors like olives and lemons.

This means that food is only one potential part of the gastronomic experience. Wine is frequently another for locals and guests alike. Guides and villagers will teach visitors which wines go with what foods, exploring the sensual nature of food and drink.

In Italy, gastronomic tours originate from cities like Umbria, Apulia, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast. In Naples, a must would be an authentic pizza topped with locally made mozzarella cheese. Taste the flavors of a simple pasta dish using few ingredients. Other popular foods to try in Italy include olive oil, fresh basil, specialty breads and equally fresh fish caught along the coastal regions.

France is a gastronomic delight. Villagers in places like Provence eat and serve local, seasonal food. They also know how to pair their wines. The most famous wine region is Bordeaux, but this could mean many things wine-wise since a host of grapes grow well in different parts of the country.

Spain is known for tapas, a series of appetizers made from all kinds of ingredients. Find items comprised of bread rounds, olive oil and herbs. Experiment with marine flavors such as calamari. Though regional variations apply, countries like Portugal and Greece also benefit from the warm weather to produce beautiful tomatoes and eggplant. As in the case of Souvlaki, lamb is of particular importance to the Greek diet.

When exploring regional foods, consider these options. One is the group tour. In Madrid, for example, join a walking group moving from one tapas bar to the next to sample foods and wines with advice and education provided by someone passionate and knowledgeable. Some of the higher end tours offer groups with gastronomic experts and sommelier. Private tours provide tourists the same amount of expertise with more attention for a far higher cost.

Expect travel agencies and on-line companies to offer a wide range of tours combing food with some other element. One focus could be the local experience, leading to meals in rural homes and restaurants, wineries and cellars, perhaps even cooking courses. Your tutors may be regular people in their own kitchens teaching the old fashioned way or renowned chefs. Other tours take guests into city hotels for tasting menus at top restaurants. Still others make you work up an appetite with arduous hikes, visits to historic buildings and museums, some of which might add insight into the cultural importance of food.

Travel Easy With Kissimmee Vacation Packages

September 23, 2010
By

Do you need some help with your travel plans this year? Kissimmee vacation packages might just be what you need for a vacation to world famous theme parks and water parks like Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Orlando Resort that is easy on the budget. The attractions they offer are varied with the goal of bringing ultimate fun and excitement to your vacation. Although some people find spontaneity a big factor when looking for adventures, it is not exactly the best way to spend your vacation in Kissimmee. You need to plan it well so that you will be able to maximize your time and not miss out on anything.

Planning your vacation includes looking for Kissimmee vacation packages that would suit your needs and make your adventure to this wonderful place more affordable and convenient. You would want to look for great deals on your admission tickets to the theme parks and water parks as well as accommodation to Kissimmee hotels and Kissimmee vacation homes. You know how expensive it can be when you travel with the family or even alone considering the costs of transportation, lodgings, meals, etc. and so having these package deals to help you with your budget would really be great.

When it comes to the theme parks and water parks, it would be quite impossible for you to see and do everything in a short span of time. Disney World alone is so vast with lots of rides, waterslides, shows, tours, activities, etc. to offer. Depending on the duration of your vacation, you need to decide which theme park or water park you would want to visit first or enjoy the most to help you decide what Kissimmee vacation packages you would prefer to avail. See if you can get big discounts or free admission tickets on the second or third day of your vacation.

You might also consider looking for admission tickets to different parks, at least one park a day, included in the packages especially if you do not want to limit yourself to one theme park while you are there. Although your time may be limited, you can still have a great time if you choose your rides and shows well. Of course, this highly depends on your interests and preferences. What may be exciting for some may not be to you so you had better make sure you know what each park is offering so that you can choose what would appeal to you the most.

Plan your itinerary well so that you would thoroughly enjoy your day at the park. Check the schedules of the shows you are planning to see so that you would get there on time. When it comes to accommodation, you should also check the different Kissimmee hotels included in the vacation packages. Consider the proximity of the hotel to the theme park of your choice, the kind of amenities that would suit your needs, free shuttle service, free breakfasts, and anything else that would make your stay more comfortable and convenient. The vacation packages would really make your travel easier so you had better take advantage of them.

How To Lose Weight Fast For A Vacation

September 21, 2010
By

Losing weight fast and easy is a dream of many. But many people lack sufficient time or inclination for vigorous exercises, or rigid diets. Losing weight is not an easy task but it is not a mysterious process as well. According to the scientific principles, it’s just a simple matter of burning more calories than those consumed. Here are some safe and easy ideas if you are thinking about how to lose weight fast at home.

1. Clean your cabinets of sugar, fried foods and other diet-killing junk foods. These include many foods labeled “fat free,” because they typically contain high amounts of sugar. Also toss highly processed foods; according to Harvard University, they interfere with weight loss.

2. A lot of people eat unhealthy snacks like candy bars, chips, junk food etc. It is difficult to give up this habit quickly. So, a wise thing is to replace the snacks with something healthier. This can make a huge difference to your weight. Now for the next few days – instead of eating unhealthy snacks, reach out for an apple or banana whenever you want to snack.

3. Dumbbells, bars, rings, exercise ball etc. are comparatively inexpensive but equally effective in weight loss. Cardio workouts at home without equipment can also help you to lose weight. You can also make use of jumping rope or you can do jogging or running exercises. Crunches, push ups, jumping jacks and squats are known for their good effects on muscles and are a part of some effective ab exercises at home.

4. Furthermore, anyone who wants to lose weight should avoid any very-low-calorie diet plans or any other artificial type of fad diet. Not only are such diet plans often lacking in diet nutrition, but also they don’t help us to adopt good eating habits which is an essential part of successful weight loss.

5. Lock up your liquor. Alcohol kills a diet because it’s packed with calories. What’s worse is that your body can’t store those calories. It has to burn them first, meaning it takes longer to tap into the fat you’re trying to lose. This is one of the best natural weight loss.

6. While attempting for weight loss, you are supposed to eat natural, healthy foods and drink plenty of water. Water is a natural appetite suppressant, and can play an important role in weight loss. A little control on your mind and some discipline is needed if you want to lose weight fast.

7. Make lunch your largest meal of the day. Good choices include sandwiches with whole-grain bread and roasted lean meat, such as chicken or turkey. Round it out with generous portions of low-calorie foods including light microwave popcorn, baby carrots, celery with peanut butter or edamame–a Japanese soybean that is high in fiber and protein.

How to Save Up to $1,000 on Your Next Disney World Vacation

Costly accommodations, exorbitant theme park ticket prices, overpriced meals and loads of unnecessary souvenirs have the potential to turn a dream family vacation at Disney World into a true nightmare for your wallet! Fortunately, by following the tried-and-true tips below, you can save up to $1,000 on your next Disney World getaway:

Plan Ahead
Don’t just wing it! Research the destination thoroughly before you arrive and sketch out your Disney World itinerary. Don’t make it too rigid (you’ll want to leave some room for spontaneity). Check out comprehensive online vacation guides to Orlando and Disney World such as Orlando-Florida.net, which provides detailed information on Walt Disney World Resort such as theme park attractions, live entertainment, restaurants, resorts and specialty shops, as well as great deals on discount theme park tickets, hotels and vacation packages.

Travel During the Off-Season
Avoid the crowds! Walt Disney World theme parks are most crowded during Spring Break, from mid-June to mid-August, Easter weekend, Thanksgiving week, the week before Christmas through New Year’s Day and on three-day holiday weekends such as Memorial Day and Labor Day. Value season typically runs from after Labor Day weekend through the end of September, the week after Thanksgiving until a week before Christmas and after New Year’s Day until just before Presidents’ week in February. For an added bonus, schedule your vacation around one of Disney’s immensely popular annual events and festivals, many of which are included with the price of admission such as the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, ABC Super Soap Weekend, Holidays Around the World, Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival and Star Wars Weekends.

Seek Out Budget Accommodations
Believe it or not, you can still stay on Disney property without spending a fortune by booking a reservation at one of Disney’s budget all-star resorts – Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort and Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort – all of which provide complimentary scheduled transportation to Disney World theme parks, as well as Downtown Disney. However, you will enjoy even more savings if you opt to stay off Disney property at one of the numerous budget motels and hotels that lie near the main entrance to Disney World along Highway 192 in Kissimmee or along world-famous International Drive. Before you book your reservation, check to see if the motel or hotel offers a complimentary continental or full breakfast each morning for guests. If you have a large family or are planning a family reunion, look into renting a vacation home – many of which offer private backyard pools, enclosed garages and washer/dryers.

Take Advantage of Complimentary Transportation
All Disney World resorts provide complimentary scheduled transportation to Disney theme parks and many area hotels, motels and resorts also offer free scheduled shutttle service to Disney World, as well as Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando. If you are staying at a Disney resort, enjoy free shuttle service to and from the Orlando International Airport aboard Disney’s Magical Express (reservations are required).

Purchase Multi-Day Tickets
Believe it or not, a one-day, one-park ticket to Disney World is currently $71 plus tax! Fortunately, there are more Disney World multi-day ticket options than ever before. Look into Disney “Park Hopper” tickets, which allow you to come and go as you please throughout any of the four Disney World theme parks: Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Choose the appropriate Disney ticket deal based on your family’s length of stay in Orlando and remember not to overdo it – you should definitely schedule time for rest and relaxation during your Disney vacation. Most importantly, do not purchase your Disney World tickets at the gate – seek out the best online deals before you arrive to the theme park.

Eat Out Wisely
If you plan to eat at one of the Disney World theme parks, make lunch your big meal of the day when prices are significantly lower than for dinner (especially at Epcot’s World Showcase). Also, don’t forget to bring along some water bottles and small snacks for the kids. In addition, you don’t have to spend a fortune at one of the Disney Character Breakfasts for autographs and photo opportunities – just take your kids to one of the free character meet and greet areas throughout all of the Disney World theme parks such as Town Square at Disney’s Magic Kingdom or Camp Minnie-Mickey at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. If you have a large family, check out one of the many budget, all-you-can-eat buffets that lie just outside Disney property on Highway 192 and along International Drive. Also, pick up a copy of free publications such as I Love Orlando magazine, which contain discount coupons for Orlando restaurants. Finally, many motels and hotels with onsite restaurants offer “Kids Eat Free” deals (one child eats per paying adult).

Set a Budget for Souvenirs
Establish a budget for Disney souvenirs and, most importantly, stick to your budget! Check out some of the area factory outlet stores such as Orlando Premium Outlets for Disney merchandise at substantially lower prices. In addition, purchase such necessities as film and sunscreen before you arrive at the theme parks, since prices at Disney are more expensive for those items.

Take a Break from the Theme Parks
Plan some time to take occasional breaks from the Disney theme parks and you can unwind and save money in the process. Check out some of the free things to do at Disney World such as strolling around Disney’s Boardwalk and Downtown Disney, both of which offer theme restaurants and specialty shops. If you really want to get away far from the madding crowd, consider a hike through the scenic, 12,000-acre Disney Wilderness Preserve, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. The entrance fee is just $3 for adults and $2 for ages 6-17.

Enjoy Membership Discounts
If you are an AAA or AARP member, make sure to take advantage of any special rates or discounts that are available during your Disney World vacation at hotels, restaurants and Orlando area attractions. Also, if you are a Florida resident, check with Disney World about any available discounts.

Book Your Disney Vacation Online
The best way to enjoy significant savings on your next Disney World vacation is to seek out the best online deals for discount Disney World tickets, budget accommodations on or off Disney property and individually tailored Disney vacation packages. Several leading online vacation providers such as HotelsCorp.com serve as comprehensive “one-stop” resources for incredible deals on Disney tickets, hotels and vacation packages.

Top Tips To Have The Best Disney World Vacation

A vacation in Disney World surely spells a lot of fun. With the amazing attractions like Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, you and your family are in for lots of treats. You can’t be any happier because you know you owe this vacation not only to your little kids but also to yourself. To ensure that you have nothing short of the perfect vacation, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind.

Arrive Early

Getting to the theme parks early is always a smart move. As you probably know, Disney World is always packed with people. But most crowds don’t arrive until noontime or after lunch. To make the most out of your vacation, be sure to arrive early. Wake up early and leave the hotel immediately. If you’re staying at one of Disney Hotels, you’ll need less travel time to arrive at the park. Arriving early will not only save you from the crowds and the long lines, you’ll also have more time to enjoy the rides and attractions.

Use the Disney World Guidebook

The Disney World Passporter is a comprehensive guidebook, complete with fold-out maps and tips for tours and attraction that you can use to plan out your trip to this place in advance. It would be wise to do the planning early on. Don’t wait until you’re at the park before you think about the rides that you would like to go to because this will waste so much time.

Take Regular Breaks

It’s tempting to go through all the rides because you wouldn’t want to waste a second of your time while you’re in this magical place. But taking regular breaks is a must. This is to ensure that you don’t end up getting too exhausted to enjoy the other rides you haven’t tried yet. It’s best to take a rest from noontime to around the afternoon when the sun’s rays are strongest.

Take Advantage of the Fast Pass

The Fast Pass can save you from standing in long lines for the popular rides. You can avail them from Disney’s official website or from the branches of its offices. Make sure you use your Fast Pass strategically. Use them only for rides that have very long lines.

Pack Some Snacks and Drinks

Surely enough, the exhilarating rides and attractions at this park will keep your stomach grumbling and your throat dried up for most of the day. Having some snacks and drinks readily available in your backpack not only satiates your hunger and thirst but also saves you money (Disney food is expensive!) and time (the lines in the snack bars are long).

Ride the Disney Shuttle

While it’s nice to walk around the theme park, you can also make use of the free shuttle service, boats, and monorail that get people from one park to another. This way, you don’t get too tired and you’ll still have some energy left to experience the exciting attractions in this theme park.

It’s very easy to have the time of your life in the home of Mickey Mouse. Be sure to check out the Disney World Packages available online so you won’t have too much difficulty booking your trip.

Sweating Vacation

Sweating Vacation

It seems like everyone is concerned about putting on the pounds over the annual holiday season, but what about summer vacations? We spend the greater part of the new year trying to shed the weight gained from an over-indulgence of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pies and various other sweets in order to slip into that new bikini or eliminate the gut before shedding the shirt at the beach. What happens when you reach your destination of summer frolicking? Toss your diet out the window and reward yourself with excess? Stay loyal to your eating and exercise plan? Somehow manage to find a happy medium? I was faced with these questions when I embarked on a weeklong excursion of bliss to Kona Village on the Big Island of Hawaii.

My parents wanted to take the family on vacation to celebrate their 40th anniversary, as well as the birthdays of my nephew (10th) and myself (36th, ahem). They decided on Kona Village because we had celebrated Christmas there back in 2002 and had a wonderful time (though I had experienced periods of boredom due to the fact that the accommodations have no TV, computer or phone). If you want a site to get away from it all, and be pampered in the quintessential locale of relaxation, this is the place to go.

Over the holidays I had fallen victim to the two-headed monster known as Sloth and Gluttony, so I put in plenty of effort to get back in shape. As a competitive open water swimmer, I was focusing more on getting prepared for the spring/summer race season than achieving the perfect beach body, but I won’t scoff at the aesthetic results. After months of training, respectable success in my races, and the loss of 15 pounds, I was a bit apprehensive about stepping aside for a week of hedonism.

Determined to take as few backwards steps as possible, I forged a plan for exercising and eating before departing the mainland. My training partner in California (shout out to Lisa) hooked me up with a friend of hers who lives in Kona-Kailua so I would have a motivating force on the island. We exchanged communications and planned a few swims, including a race the day after I arrived!

The 11th Annual King Swim took place at the Kailua Pier, which is the starting and finishing point of the Ironman World Championships Triathlon. Before you start to get impressed (just yet), the race was just 1.2 miles, instead of the 2.4 miles swum in the initial stage of the Ironman. I didn’t go through the ubiquitous pre-race nerves because I didn’t have any high expectations for this event. Since I was in the land of stud triathletes and had been in Kona for just 15 hours (not to mention the effect the time change had on me), I went into the race just wanting to have fun and to get some ocean swimming under my belt. Despite some crooked swimming, due to my limited attention span wondering off and looking at all the pretty fishes, I actually had a pretty good race. I finished first in my age group (got a sweet trophy), was the fifth male and the seventh overall finisher. Of the six people who came in before me, five were 18-years-old or younger, and the other was a 43-year-old woman who holds numerous world records in Masters Swimming (my island training partner). Not bad for an old man in the last day of his 35th year of life!

Aside from this race, I tried to swim daily in the ocean, which included another 1.2 miler on the same racecourse (for fun) and a completion of the whole 2.4-mile Ironman course (also for fun). Throw in a couple of pool workouts and a (mostly) daily trip to the resort workout room for weights and cardio, and I got in more than my fair share of vacation exercise. I found that the key to getting your sweat on while away from home is to do it first thing in the morning, getting it out of the way and leaving the rest of the day wide open for the real fun (or napping, if you prefer).

As for eating, the hardest part was resisting the temptation of the huge buffet breakfasts and lunches. I stuck to my goal of keeping on the blinders in front of the food spreads and throwing caution to the wind at dinner. Every day I was a good little boy and had eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt and berries for breakfast and a biggie salad for lunch (with a few French fries thrown in for good measure). Dinners were a different story, though I did not go completely overboard. There were plenty of four-course meals (with yummy lobster on most nights), but I knew I could shovel it in knowing I would be burning (most) of it off the next morning. As for desserts, I swore to myself that I would avoid them all unless cheesecake (my Kryptonite) was offered up. I succeeded in this mission until the last dinner of the trip when cheesecake finally popped up on the menu (woo hoo!).

All in all, I had a fabulous trip and came home weighing the same as I did when I left. I’m not suggesting that y’all be a psycho nutcase like me when taking time away in the summer, but it is possible to avoid all the traps that lay ahead of you when leaving the safe confines of your home regimen. Plus, the more disciplined you are while on vacation, the easier it will be to jump back into the daily grind upon your return. Just a little food for thought.
