Acai Berries Antioxidants – Nutrient Rich Acai Berry Palm Fruit Makes You Slimmer?

February 25, 2011
By

Acai berry, originating from the Amazonian Basin, is renowned for its extraordinary rich nutrient content. Drinks containing acai berries are becoming more popular as people recognize the health benefits.

The Acai berry fruit grows in the rain forests of Brazil and is about the size and color of a grape. This fruit comes from an Amazonian palm that produces a few crops every year.

Men of science have ascertained that berries like the Acai, with their heavy coloration, have a lot of anti-oxidants. This berry not only contains Anthocyanins but was also ascertained to possess the highest amount of antioxidants in fruits, with an ORAC of 70,000.

You should likewise know as a fruit, the acai has zero shelf value. Unless processing takes place within a day of picking off the tree, nearly all the nutrients will be lost. Freeze drying is utilised to ascertain that the nutrients are maintained that would otherwise be damaged using different drying techniques. Used to make healthy diet supplements such as capsule, juices and pills, the lightweight powder is the end form of the crushed fruit.

In addition, the antioxidants in acai berries facilitate weight reduction by counteracting free radical damage. Free radicals contain oxidation agents that assault the body at the cellular level, causing damage. The result is a compromised immune system that makes you vulnerable to allergies, skin irritation and general malaise. As a result, we suffer from decreased energy levels and grow fat.

The free radicals in your system will be wiped out by the antioxidants in acai berries. In addition, oxidation impairment done to your skin and other body cells can also be rectified by the antioxidants.

With free radicals eradicated, our bodies will recover with renewed energy levels with a reversal of earlier weight gains.

Acai Berry Rich In Anti-Oxidant Benefits

February 23, 2011
By

If you are conscious of what you eat and are concerned about making sure that what you eat is natural and rich in essential vitamins, nutrition, protein, and anti-oxidants then you need to buy Acai Berry. Acai Berry is a natural organically grown fruit that is increasingly becoming known as nature’s “super fruit” due to its power-packed and natural ingredients. It is one of the most nutritious fruits in nature. Science has only begun to discover the wide range of health benefits that this natural fruit offers.

Acai Berry is grown in the Amazon rain forests of South America. It is a fruit much like the grape in appearance but is smaller and dark purple in color. The native Brazilians harvest this fruit.  They have known about the health benefits of Acai Berry as both a food and a medicine for a long long time. It is only recently that others outside of the Amazon region have begun to understand its benefit and as a result, its demand and acceptance as a super health food is increasing.

Acai Berry is packed with nutrition and essential vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin E and Vitamin C. It is also rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, amino acids, and even protein.  Yes, I said protein! Research shows that it has more protein than an average sized egg.

If you buy Acai Berry you will also benefit from its powerful anti-oxidant properties. Research has shown that Acai Berry has many times the anti-oxidant power of other fruit, including red wine grapes. This super fruit will fight against the harmful toxins and free radicals that get into our bodies, as well reduce the risk of diseases such as Cancer and heart disease. By flushing the body of harmful poisons and toxins, the immune system will be strengthened, and the body’s ability to heal itself increased.

The rich anti-oxidant benefits you will receive when you buy Acai Berry is not all you will receive. Acai berry is also known for its ability to temper the aging process. A diet that include Acai Berry will promote the “good” cholesterol  and lower the “bad” cholesterol in the blood stream, which is essential to good heart health.  It increases blood circulation and promotes a youthful feeling of health and energy.

Acai Berry can greatly aid the functioning of the digestive system. This is true of many of the grape like fruits, but especially with this super fruit. The anti-oxidants in acai berry flush and cleanse the digestive system of harmful toxins.  In addition to its anti-oxidant benefits, the super berry is high in fiber. This will aid in digestive regularity, prevent constipation, and promote good digestive function.

Where do you buy Acai Berry? Acai Berry can be purchased at reputable online health food stores. More and more health food outlets are beginning to offer this amazing food. There truly are few other fruits equal to Acai Berry in the levels of nutrition, vitamins, minerals, protein, and anti-oxidants that it contains. Next time you visit your favorite online health food store, look for and buy Acai Berry and enjoy being the beneficiary of its many healthful ingredients.

******************************************************************
Got out of the shower and hurried into my room. I plugged my dryer in and started to dry my hair. My hair cascaded down my back into waves of brown chocolate. I left it naturally curly without doing anything to it. After my hair was dried, I lifted the dress I had chosen earlier. It was my favorite color: purple. It was a spaghetti top style that hugged my curves in all the right places. It had a tiny blacks bow under my chest and there was black lace at the bottom. I knew I looked good in it because this was my eye-catching outfit. I always had gotten a lot of compliments on my appearance. I looked into the mirror and smiled to myself. I looked stunning. I sat down at my mirror and applied make-up. I never put on more that eye-liner and mascara but tonight was an exception. I brushed some blush onto my cheeks and sprinkled some glitter onto my neck. I glanced at the clock and it was already 6:30. My phone started to ring and I didn’t know the number.

“Hello?” I tentatively asked.

“Hey Carter, it’s Drake. I’m on my way over to your room right now.”

“Oh hey, okay just knock and I’ll be ready.” We hung up and I sat there waiting. As soon as I heard someone knock, I slipped on my open-toe pumps and grabbed a cardigan. When I got to the door, Vincent had already opened it and stood talking to Drake.

Drake saw me standing behind Vincent and his jaw literally dropped. His eyes were glued to my body and I could see him staring at me up and down. I felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze. Vincent noticed and turned around. His face contorted into an unreadable expression.

“Hey Drake.” I smiled at him and walked to his side. I entwined my arm in his and he tensed up. Vincent’s eyes grew big at our connected arms. Drake soon relaxed and he looked comfortable.

“Ready to go?” I nodded as Drake was saying bye to Vincent. We walked out together and I could feel Vincent’s gaze on my back. We were walking along a path outside approaching the main hall where the dance was held. “You look really good tonight, beautiful.”

I blushed as Drake gently touched my cheek. He realized what he was doing and quickly pulled his hand away as if ashamed. I noticed for the first time what he was wearing. He had on dark, slim jeans with a white button up dress shirt and hanging from his neck was a loosely tied skinny tie. His hair was recently wet and glistened under the moon. He looked gorgeous. I was checking him out when I stumbled on a crack in the sidewalk. I fell forward and was about to fall when Drake grabbed my arm and pulled me up into his arms. I was right up against his chest and I could feel his steady heart beat. The longer I stood there, the faster his heart began to beat. I looked up and my eyes were drawn to his lips. They looked so inviting and on an impulse I reached up and traced my pinky along his lips. I could feel Drake tremble when I touched him. His breath got quicker as I felt his heart racing against my cheek. Drake took my hand in his own and brought it down to my side.

I don’t know why I did it, but I raised myself up on my toes and pressed my lips against his. They were soft and warm. He was resistant at first, but when I kept persisting, he finally started to respond. He was kissing me back and I boldly traced my tongue over his lips. His mouth opened to welcome me as he explored thoroughly my own mouth. I wrapped my arms around his neck as my right hand tousled through his hair. I felt his hands wrap around my waist as he pulled me closer to him. We both came up for breath at the same time. He was looking at me so gently that I felt I could trust everything with him.

“You guys I don’t think this the right place.” I whirled at the voice and turned to see Thomas staring at us. He seemed annoyed to find us standing in his path. There was a pretty red head draped over his arm. She was wearing a white strapless dress that emphasized her hair and fair skin. Thomas eyed us with amusement and I felt Drake’s arm wound protectively around me. I leaned back into Drake and approved when he wrapped his arm around me tighter.

“I’m sorry Thomas you had to see, but you don’t need to linger. Keep going where you were going.” I smiled sweetly even though I was annoyed to be interrupted. Thomas looked taken aback at my blunt statement and I could feel Drake trying to hold in his laughter. “Well Drake and I will leave first. We’ll see you later at the dance!” I put as much enthusiasm into my voice as I could muster and dragged Drake along the path until we were out of sight. Drake stopped and turned me to him and kissed me hard. It wasn’t like before; it was more passionate and forceful. I responded just as fiercely, but he pulled away first and kissed my hair.

“That was pretty brave of you Carter. I like a strong woman.” Drake laughed as I punched him lightly. We walked and he slipped his hand into mine as I grinned. He tickled me and I tickled him. We kept teasing each other until we reached the doors of the main hall. I opened the door and wished I never had opened it. In front of me was Vincent and he wasn’t alone. Currently he was engaged in a passionate lip lock with a stunning blonde. Her boobs seemed to burst from her black strapless dress; even from here I could tell her blonde hair was a dye. I felt a strong emotion pass through me and realized with surprise that it was jealousy.

I hated Vincent yet I wanted to walk over there and yank the blonde from him. Vincent opened his eyes and caught my gaze. He steadily looked at me and I could tell he was trying to bother me. I hated that it did bother me. I abruptly turned and walked out the door I had entered seconds before. I felt Drake turn in my direction, but I didn’t stop to look back. I started to walk faster and faster. I could feel the anxiety rise up in me but I didn’t care. I heard someone yelling my name but I never turned. I started to run and I could feel my lungs start to fail. My anxiety was overwhelming me; the next thing I knew I was falling and then it was blackness. I vaguely remember someone lifting me up gently and taking me somewhere, but I don’t know where. All I can hear are hushed voices.

“Is she going to be ok?” I recognized the voice. Was it Mark, Drake, or Vincent? I’m pretty sure it was Vincent. What was he doing here? I couldn’t concentrate any longer and drifted into a deep sleep.

Readers!! this one is a short chapter but I hope you like it anywayy!!
PEACE.

Very young children should eat 3 age-appropriate servings of dairy products per day while 4 servings of calcium rich foods for children are recommended for adolescent children. Parents should read the labels properly. Just including calcium rich foods for toddlers in their diet does not mean that they are getting enough calcium. For example, the amount of calcium provided through cheese, bread, etc. may vary from brand to brand. Another important fact is that when the body has adequate vitamin D, only then it is able to absorb the required amount of calcium, supplied through food. This explains why a balanced diet is of extreme importance for growing children as well as adults. While following a healthy diet, avoiding smoking, drinking soda, caffeinated beverages and alcohol is absolutely essential. Good eating and drinking habits promote maximum absorption of calcium. So adolescents need to follow a healthy lifestyle. I hope you find the above information regarding calcium rich foods for kids beneficial and you make the necessary dietary changes.

Rich Meets The Streets – 1

“Oh my baby girl is growing up! Are you going to be okay? Do you need anything? Are you missing something?”

“Mom! Chillax! Take it easy! I’m only less than 150 miles away. I’ll be fine and no I don’t need anything and I’m all packed and ready to go” I said with a big grin on my face.

“Baby you’re only 17! And 150 miles is quite a while away. What am I going to do without you Angel?” said Mom with tears in her eyes.

“Oh Mom! You’ll be fine and don’t worry. You’ve got the book club and all your friends at work! Don’t cry. You know how much I hate seeing you cry.” I said while cuddling my Mom and attempting to brighten the mood.

My name’s Alexa Hilton. I’m 17 years old and I live in Philadelphia. I have long, straight brunette hair and a slim figure and tanned skin. I have blue/green eyes and I’m the daughter of one of the richest men in New York. My dad’s the soon to be owner of the Plaza Hotel.

I’ve lived in Philadelphia for my entire life. Most people think I’m a spoilt brat but I’m really not. Yes I wear designer clothes and I’m rich but there’s a lot more to me than just expensive materials.

My Mother and Father split up just before I was born and this pained my mother very much. I could tell just by looking into her eyes.

5 years before I was born, my mother and father fell in love and it was the happiest moments of their life but my fathers parents hated having their rich,good-looking son have a girlfriend who was middle-class and because of where she came from. My mother was born in Philadelphia but her background was Spanish, her family had some tough financial problems and she didn’t exactly have the most expensive things. It was pretty much like opposites attract. My dad was rich and my mom wasn’t. But my mom was beautiful, absolutely stunning!

My fathers parents were so mad that their son was in love with someone who wasn’t rich they threatened to kick him out. Of course it was true love and he didn’t care and he moved in with my mom. They were struggling quite a lot, but after my mom’s parents died their house was going to get repossessed because there was no will because my mom’s parents died in a sudden car accident. Eventually my Dad saved up his money from doing lots of different jobs and he moved to New York and started to work as a cleaner in the Plaza Hotel and he built his way up to the top. When he was doing quite successful, Mom moved with him and it started to go downhill. Money started to possess him and Mom moved back to Philly only to find out that she was pregnant with me. My dad always sent money and provided quite well except he never provided much love.

And here I am now. Every Summer I go to visit my dad but now I feel trapped in Philly, it just isn’t for me. New York is where I want to be, it’s like somethings calling out to me and I feel the need to answer.

*BEEP BEEP*

“Well that’s my ride ” i sighed. “Come here” I opened my arms out to my mum.

“I’m going to miss you Lexi baby. You’re my number 1 Angel and don’t ever forget it” she said looking me in the eyes. I broke eye contact because my eyes started to well up.

“I love you Mom”

“I love you too baby girl”

After one last hug, I got into the cab and said goodbye to Philly. I was going to miss my Mom and some of my friends but now all I needed to do was look ahead and look forward to the adventures that are waiting for me in NEW YORK!!!!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I had 10 minutes to board my flight and I never ran so fast, but I made it just in time. I boarded the plane and got myself quite comfortable. I have to thank dad for getting me into first class. This is the life baby!!

Hmmm I wonder what it’s going to be like over there? I wonder what all the people are like? This isn’t the first time that I’m going to New York. But I’m staying there permanently, I mean these thoughts would cross anybody’s mind, human nature I guess. I chuckled at myself. I’m quite a dork when I do stuff like that.

With humorous and crazy thoughts racing around my head, I eventually fell into a peaceful, deep snooze.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I woke up to the flight attendant saying ” Excuse me miss, but we’ve landed, you’re going to have to get off the plane”

Wow, I slept through the whole flight! Blimey! I must have been pretty tired. Probably all the nerves of moving to one of the biggest cities in the world! Yeah baby! I’m finally here! My new life, a new beginning.

I grabbed my bags off the carousel and made my way outside the airport only to a chauffeur holding a sign with my name on it. Dad always gets a limo to pick me up and drop me off to places when I come to visit. As soon as I started walking towards my chauffeur, paparazzi started swarming around me. Yep I am daddy’s girl and daddy clearly let New York know I was coming. I managed to get away and greeted my Chauffeur, Tom, he kindly put my bags in the boot and started driving me to the hotel.

“Hey Lexi, how’s it going? Haven’t seen my favorite girl in a long time”

“It’s all okay Tom thanks and you? I missed you loads!”

“I’m good thanks Lexi, just been spending lots of time with the family, my nephew’s come to live with me and Lexi I always miss you darling. I think you and Jordan will get along quite well” said Tom flashing a grin.

“Jordan? Oh Jordan, his name, right “

“How about next week you come over for dinner on Saturday, like the good ole times?”

“I’d love to Tom, thanks, you can pick me up around 7.30?”

“No problem Alexa, see you soon”

By the time the conversation ended we’d arrived at the hotel. I got out the car and walked in only to see my dad, my face lit up and I ran up to him and jumped up and gave him a giant cuddle!

“I missed you baby girl! “

“I missed you too dad! “

“Lance here will carry your bags up to your room and here’s your room key. I’m really sorry poppet but I have some business to attend to and here’s some money, you can do a little shopping if you like. Love you princess ” after giving me a peck on the cheek he was off.

I felt quite upset that as soon as I got here he’d already left. I went up to my room, only to find the most gorgeous room ever! It was all cream and white. My favourite colours!

I freshened up and had a good 1 hour shower and changed into a pair of black skinny jeans, a blue tank top and a white oversized, sleeveless shirt saying Life’s A Beach. I touched up on my makeup buy adding a layer of eye liner and mascara and some nude lipstick. I slipped on my white flats and grabbed my white Chanel bag and my black Armani sunglasses and also the money dad gave me to spend.

Tom had gone to drop dad off at some kind of meeting, which meant I had to catch a cab. I managed to get one after 15 minutes of trying to whistle for one. I used to love going to my favourite fast food shops, Diner Diner, it was in the rough areas of New York. I payed the taxi driver 40 dollars and went in. I had the best chicken burgers and the most amazing strawberry milkshakes. DELICIOUS!!

It was only 8pm, it was quite dark but the air smelt so good I just felt the need to go for a stroll. I decided to go round the block. I was halfway through going round, until I saw 2 boys who looked at least 2 or 3 years older than me, I started to feel a bit uneasy and held my bag closer to me, I walked a little faster, they started following me and I quickened my pace which turned into a sprint i turned to see if they were still coming after me, as I turned back round, I went face first into a hard yet soft chest. I could smell something so strong, like cologne? I looked up to see a boy who looked 2 or 3 years older and I couldn’t see much but his body structure was very sexy.

“Watch it Princess” he said in a deep and sexy voice.

The two boys that were following me caught up and quite a few other boys had gathered around.

“Where do you think you’re going sunshine?” said one of them.

They all started taunting me and the boy who I ran into gently grabbed my hands and held them together and pulled me towards them, a shiver went down my spine as soon as he touched me.

He bent down and whispered in my ear ” Stay quiet, and stay still, don’t resist “

He began kissing across my cheekbone and towards my lips. I was frightened, but I loved the thrill, but it was very wrong. I turned my face and let out the biggest scream i could ever produce.

His hold on my wrist began to tighten and he pinned me against the wall.

“I can handle this one, don’t worry, you guys go ahead, I’ll catch up with you later” he said in his deep and sexy voice, making my heart skip a beat.

“Okay whatever you say man” said one of them and they went off.

He held me tight against the wall, still pressing his body against mine for 5 minutes, until there was total silence.

I sniffed a little, because of the cold air. I didn’t even realize that the temperatures had dropped.

I was shy and scared and finally got the courage to look up at his gorgeous face. I could tell he had jet black messy hair, and the most yummy looking lips ever. My eyes eventually locked his as I was scanning his body, and he had piercing gray/blue eyes. Making me melt against his body. He could tell that I had relaxed a little. It felt kind of right to be there, with him. Wait what was I thinking? This guy could rape me or even kill me!!

He smirked and bent his mouth towards my ear and whispered ever so gently ” I told you not to resist. I won’t hurt you, I promise.”

Somehow I felt like I could trust him. He let go and backed away and told me to be careful. He bent down and picked my bag up from the floor and my sunglasses and handed them over.

“A princess shouldn’t be out in these areas when it’s this dark”

“I erm, erm I err ” I could barely speak.

I was so confused what the hell just happened in the last 10 minutes. My mind was racing.

“Just don’t ever come back here again ” he said in a serious tone.

At that moment I was extremely scared. I literally legged it back to the diner and managed to find a free taxi waiting outside, which dropped me off outside the hotel. I was still stunned from tonight. I managed to avoid any of the staff I knew there and went straight to my room and for a nice lovely shower.

Today was totally crazy!! What the hell happened?

New York is totally playing tricks on me!!

Who was that boy?? Why didn’t he hurt me?? =|

Why Niacin Is A Small But Vital Part Of Your Anti-Oxidant Rich Diet

November 25, 2010
By

Vitamin B3, commonly known as niacin or nicotinic acid, is one of the B complex of water soluble vitamins needed by the body every day.

In its derivative form of nicotinamide, niacin is required by the body for the production of coenzymes known as, if you’ll forgive the jargon, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP).

The importance of NAD and NADP may be shown by the fact that over 200 of the body’s other enzymes are dependent on an interaction with them for an almost infinite variety of vital functions.

The antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione, for example, are the body’s first line of defence against highly damaging superoxide free radicals and work in a closely complementary fashion. Each of these anti-oxidant enzymes is formed by the body from the amino acids in the proteins in your diet, and each is needed for the others to function correctly.

This holistic functioning of the body is also reflected in the dietary requirements for the successful production of the enzymes. As well as a good supply of first-class protein, ie that containing each of the essential amino acids, a wide variety of vitamins and minerals are required to allow optimal levels of enzyme manufacture.

So for example, vitamin E cannot do its work in the absence of an adequate supply of active vitamin C. In its turn, vitamin C cannot remain active without the presence of glutathione. And although it is the most prevalent anti-oxidant enzyme in the body, glutathione cannot act effectively in the absence of the trace mineral, selenium, and vitamins of the B complex, including B3 and B6.

In addition to its importance in assisting with the manufacture of anti-oxidant enzymes, there is also some evidence that levels of niacin above those required for the avoidance of deficiency may have some protective effect against the DNA cell damage that may be a precursor to the development of cancer.

Intense attention has also been paid to the apparent effectiveness of niacin (or nicotinic acid) in reducing blood levels of Low Density Lipids (LDLs), the so-called “bad” cholesterol, an effect recognised since 1955. It has also been demonstrated by numerous research reports that levels of High Density Lipids (HDLs), or “good” cholesterol may be raised by niacin. This has given rise to extravagant claims for niacin as a natural alternative to conventional heart drugs, including statins. But it has to be stressed that the beneficial effects appear to require pharmacological doses of several grams a day, which should only be taken under medical supervision.

In fact the recommended upper safe level of niacin intake has been set by the Food and Nutrition Board at 35 mg a day to avoid the unpleasant flushing of the face and body which is a common side effect of high doses. At the other end of the scale, the most important extreme deficiency disease relating to vitamin B3 is known as pellagra.

Symptoms of pellagra affect the skin, the digestive system and the brain, so sufferers may develop a heavily pigmented rash on areas of the skin exposed to sunlight; they may experience vomiting and diarrhea and symptoms similar to the early signs of dementia. In the most extreme cases pellagra can even be fatal if allowed to progress untreated.

Fortunately, however, as little as 11 mg of niacin a day has been shown to be sufficient for the prevention of pellagra, and the disease should never now be seen in affluent Western societies. But the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) has been set at a slightly higher, safety, level of 16 mg for men and 14 mg for women To put this in perspective, a small 3oz serving of lean chicken or turkey will provide between 5 and 7 mg, beef 3 mg; and salmon or tuna (a particularly rich source) between 8 and 11 mg. An unfortified cup of cereal may provide 5 mg, fortified perhaps as much 20 mg or more.

Milk, nuts, beans and leafy green vegetables may be useful secondary sources, but it should be noted, however, that unrefined grains such as corn or wheat (even in the form of wholemeal bread) are relatively poor sources because the niacin they contain is not easily absorbed by the human digestive system.

The RDA of 16mg should be easily achieved through a normally well balanced daily diet, and should be enough to prevent deficiency disease, but as always in nutrition, mere absence of disease is not at all the same thing as optimal health. So the sensible approach to supplementation, and the one recommended by numerous authorities to ensure maximum benefits, appears to be to take a multi-vitamin or B complex supplement sufficient to raise niacin intake to around 20 mg a day.

A noted poet commented “The first wealth is health”. Though most of us agree with the fact, it is also true that we rarely follow any fixed diet plan. Our daily diet must be adequate with all the nutrients required by the body for its proper functioning.

What is Fiber?

Fiber is the key to proper digestion, and aids in cleansing of the stomach and intestines. Fiber rich foods mainly consists of the indigestible carbohydrates, most of which do not get absorbed by the body, and carry waste along with them while leaving the body. It is interesting to know that, though it is made of carbohydrates, fiber actually aids in weight loss. It gives you a sense of fullness which encourages you to eat less. It also carries out the unwanted fat along with it, which would have got absorbed in the body otherwise. Doctors believe that the digestive system becomes lazy without enough roughage, and it can lead to various complications like diseases of the bowel, rectum, etc. Fiber rich foods are a blessing if in case you are suffering from constipation. However, there are two sides of a coin. Excess of anything is bad, and so it applies to fiber as well. A healthy diet according to age and weight must be followed. A high fiber diet plan mainly consists of well distributed servings of fruits, vegetables, nuts and cereals. Here’s a fiber rich foods list to make you aware of the fiber rich foods to be eaten.
