CNC Machine Controllers

Machine controllers are a key step in your CNC process. Find out why below..

Machine Controllers take your machining instructions from your G-Code and converts the G-Code into motion.  You are off to the races.  The controller interprets the signal pulses from your Control Computer and instructs the machine to move.

The Machine Controller is made up of various electrical parts.  Remember earlier that I said some electronic junkies flock to CNC.  This is why.  Machine controllers can be built if you are savvy with a soldering iron.  I myself am not.  I personally always default to ordering up a Machine Controller from one of my sources.Controller builders to me are electronic gods.  They mix power sources, match up Amp, Volts, etc into the item I need.

Generally, you can pick the number of Axis you want before they build the controller.  For example, if you are building a CNC Plasma Cutter you may want a two-axis controller.  Possibly a three-axis controller if you have a Torch Height Control.

If you have a milling machine or a wood router in mind, then a three axis is your ticket.  If you want to machine with a rotary axis, then you need a four-axis controller.  So on and so forth.

Here are some example controller prices Here are some prices you might see in the marketplace.  Most come with motor systems and cable as well.  Really, you purchase a whole kit at once if you go this route.  The other way to do it is to buy components and assemble it yourself.  I wouldn’t suggest this for the beginner.

Prices2 Axis – $1000–$3000 – Movement in the X and Y axis, dependent on the size of motors you order3 Axis – $1500–$4000 – Movement in the X, Y and Z axis, dependent on the size of motors you order4 Axis – $2000–$6000 – Movement in the X, Y, Z and A axis, dependent on the size of motors you order

Note: The A-axis is the rotational axis.  Why is it called that?  I don’t know.  It is also sometimes called the B-axis.  I have even heard it called the W-axis.  A-axis is the rotational axis around the X-axis. B-axis is the rotational axis around the Y-axis.

Buying a completed CNC MachineIf you purchase a CNC machine outright, it will have a machine controller as part of the package.  Everyone does it a bit different though.  Some try to make it a black box that only they can fix.  Other use commonly used components so you could repair it if need be.  You will just have to ask the manufacturer and see what they say.  My experience says they usually tell you that it uses common components that you can get anywhere if needed.  If something goes wrong, it seems you can only get the part from them.  You will have to decide.

Internal Machine Controller PartsThere are many different electrical components that go into a machine controller.  I won’t pretend that I am an expert on this.  Actually, this is one of the components I buy pre-made so I don’t have to do it.  If you are an electronics junkie you could build your own.  I know where my skills are at and it isn’t in assembling and understanding electronics.

Here is what I know about the guts of a controller.  There will be drivers.  One for each axis.

Gecko Drivers seem to be the best value on the market right now with great support.  I have used Gecko drivers in two of my creations and they work great.  Next, is a processor to do the computing work.  A power source to power the controller.  Finally the external cableling that heads out to the motors at each axis on your machine.

There is more to it than just that, and I have probably left out some parts.  Those are the basic parts of machine controllers.

CNC Control PendantsI didn’t quite know where to put this section.  The Machining Chapter or Machine Controllers Chapter.  It ended up here because the pendant is almost always hooked to the controller.  Any pendant automatically gets a gold star from me.  I love them.  If you use oneFeature Articles

Pendants are a true lifesaver when machining.  They give you access to commonly used functions about anywhere you want them.  You can jog the machine to a new location.  You can zero out your axis with a click.  You can even control your machining speeds on the fly.  All pendants are different and are usually associated with a purchased Machine Controller.Pendants can be made.

There are a number of people out there that have pieced them together. Generally these are the electronic types of people involved with CNC.  They like this extra challenge.  Many of these home brew pendants actually come out very nice.  Many of these folks are proud of them and share their plans and component lists readily.  The trick is finding them.

HOW TO CREATE A VIRAL MARKETING MACHINE FOR ANY AFFILIATE

HOW TO CREATE A VIRAL MARKETING MACHINE FOR ANY AFFILIATE

Wow, that’s a powerful title! Don’t let the headline
fool you though, this could be the most important article
you ever read. If done correctly this is one the easiest
ways to create a permanent revenue stream with ANY
affiliate program you are promoting.

Have you taken notice that some of the most popular types
of web sites on the internet are portal (or vortal) web
sites? These portals, or should we say web site vortals
(vertical portals) are really nothing more than an
organized collection of links to other web sites.

Why are they so popular, and more importantly why are they
so successful?

One of the biggest reasons they are popular is because
they save visitors time. We all know time is very easy
to waste on the internet. A visitor to a vortal does not
have to go through tedious search engine listings to find
what they are looking for anymore, it’s all right there
sorted and stored for them at their favorite vortal
web site.

Let me tell you a little story before we get deeper into
this since it fits right in with this article. It’s
also a prime example of why these sites are so successful.

Last week I was searching for information on a
motorcycle… specifically pricing info. I wanted to see
what kind of price fluctuations there were from state
to state. Well to make a long story short, while I was
searching I wondered upon a few vortal sites geared to
the motorcycle community. These sites actually had
everything I was looking for and more… I even ended up
buying from a couple of their resources and they
both ended up in my bookmarks for future visits.

No fancy graphics, no amazing flash animations just
good solid “targeted” content.

To follow along here are the two web sites I
ended up spending some time at:

http://www.moto-directory.com/
http://www.motorcyclerow.com/

(Don’t worry we are going to get to explaining how all
of this is going to help you increase your internet
revenue!)

Visit the first web site moto-directory.com and what
do you see?

Let’s put it all into perspective:

1. A large “searchable” categorized listing of motorcycle
resources and vendors.
2. Advertisers with products and services geared to the
motorcycle industry.
3. Affiliate bookstore geared to motorcycle users.
4. Affiliated classified ad system and auction.
5. Automated directory system.

Actually this vortal is owned and operated by
motorcycleshopper.com so I am sure you can see
the big picture here… they realize the community
a vertical portal brings sells products and produces
advertising revenue!

So, what do we have to work with here…

If you created and operated a vortal site what would
you have to look forward to:

1. The searchable categorized listings make it as easy
as possible for a visitor to find what they are looking
for and almost guarantees your site gets bookmarked.

2. Once a vortal becomes popular advertisers flock to
it because they know they will find “targeted” traffic.
Not only can you produce a solid advertising revenue
stream but you can also advertise your own affiliate
programs especially if they are geared to the web
sites category.

3. The fact that the system is totally automated is a
big fat bonus! What if related web sites visited and
build your directory for you, isn’t that enough reason
to stop what you are doing right now and start on
the framework for your own vertical portal web site?

Vortals are geared to one subject and visitors love it!

All Content is geared to the vortals theme.
All advertising is geared to the vortals content.
All resources are related to the vortals content.
All in all a vortal is a perfect targeted community

$$$$ Cha-Ching!

Ok we all see the big picture here but how do we
put a vertical portal to work for an affiliate program?

Easy…

Create a portal on a topic related to the affiliate
programs you are promoting and funnel the buyers in!

* FIRST YOU NEED A THEME & A DOMAIN NAME:

So let’s find out what type of portal we can create.

Many of you may already know me as the Affiliate Marketing
Director for Net Detective:
http://www.jeanharris.com/associate/ Many affiliates have
been following along with this article and creating some
killer revenue machines. As an example of an affiliate front
here are a few ideas for a front end portal for Net
Detective:
(Remember,in this example the goal is to sell net detective
so we need to find a theme and content geared to
the product.)

1: A spy resources directory
2: An Investigation resource center
3: An adoption/genealogy resource center
4: A directory of location services
5: A search resource directory
6: Employee Investigation resource directory
7: Spy or investigation software resource center
etc., etc….

As you can see this can easily turn into a really
powerful marketing machine that will work for you 24
hours a day. You can build a vortal for any type of
affiliate program you are promoting.

You will definitely need a new domain name for
this project and here are four resources to help:

For 13.50 per year this is the lowest domain registration
service I have seen http://www.000domains.com

If you need help coming up with a good domain name
use these three resources to search for available names.
1. http://www.nameboy.com/
2. http://whois.net
3. http://hammer.prohosting.com/~domains/cgi-bin/main.shtml

* SECOND, YOU NEED A SYSTEM:

Fortunately for us there are several ready made directory
systems available on-line to help us quickly get our
new vertical portal up and running.

Links Manager v2.0 – create your own directory or index
like Yahoo, Snap or Dmoz. Includes sophisticated
administrative tool and it’s automated:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/scripts/links/index.htm

Index Finger Pro Edition – Produces a clean and
professional directory using html pages. Unlimited
categories and sub-categories, supports ad banners,
search, site requests, mailing list, site rating,
what’s new and cool pages, plus more.
http://www.indexfinger.com/

Web Index v1 – With WebIndex you can start a search engine
that works very much like Yahoo or CGI-Resources. With the
web-based admin area you can build up the directories,
edit/remove directories, verify/edit/remove links and much
more. Automatically updated What’s New! page, advanced search
and the best part is: the layout of the pages are totally
customizable.
http://cgi-center.cx/scripts/webindex.html

You can find many more directory systems at Cgi-Resources
Here is the direct link to the links indexing category:
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Link_Indexing_Scripts/

* THIRD, YOU WILL NEED A MARKETING PLAN:

Again we can help! We have a large amount of material to
help you get your new portal in front of as many eyeballs
as you can at a Helping Hands resource center.

The goal of your portal should be to provide a one stop
resource for your selected category and focus on selling
your product or promtoing your affiliate programs.

If you work your affiliate program banners, links, classifieds
etc. into your sites framework you will be surprised at how
successful your new venture could become. When you produce
targeted traffic your sales will only rise. Just thinkFree Articlesevery single visitor to your new portal is a
potential customer! Talk about targeting huh?

There is a ton of marketing material online for you to take
advantage of in The Helping Hand newsletter and marketing
center: http://www.helpinghand-newsletter.com

How the Beverage Vending Machine and Industry Work

December 31, 2010
By

Beverage Vending Machines didn’t just get popular. They are relatively amazing, for they were already in existence as early as 215 B.C. During this time, ancient Egyptians were using a device that has been identified to dispense holy water at places of worships after depositing a coin. In the United States, vending machines were introduced in 1888 when the Adams Gum company started to sell their penny gum products using such machines.

See your favorite beverage vending machine in a subway train station? Or the compact disc album of your favorite music artist in the corner of the town plaza? Those are just few manifestations that vending machines are popular for in America. You can see them almost everywhere you go.

From its humble beginnings, the vending machine business has started its rapid growth. A business report from 2005 states that the vending industry has increased its net sales nearly 40 percent. Starting from chewing gum, vending machines now dispenses everything from sodas to compact discs (CDs) to condoms.

The success of vending industry is attributed to the combined use of technology and mechanisms in different vending equipment. However, this article will focus its discussion of the different parts of beverage vending machines and its relative functions since it is one of the most commonly seen dispensing equipment around. Continue reading and explore what is behind the popularity and success of vending machines.

One of the pioneer products in the vending machine industry has been selling beverages. Usually, beverage vending machines work by selecting the type of beverage you want. You will be required to insert several coins or paper money; the amount will be posted on the machine, in the coin slot. Once the machine detects that the money you have deposited is sufficient enough to purchase the desired beverage, it will dispense the beverage of your choice. Modern beverage vending machines are now accepting paper bills as well as from coins.

Manufacturers of such vending machines usually make use of the same materials as a refrigerator. Platinum finishes and polystyrene panels are used to sustain the cold temperature inside the machine. In order to load the beverages, it has a large slide where the beverages are to be placed to load them into the machine. It also has selection buttons placed in front of the machines in order to facilitate the purchase of the merchandise.

At the end of each bin, the machine has a rotor that will drop the selected beverage can into a chute. The chute will serve as the cans passageway to a ramp where the merchandise will slide to the dispensing area. Presto, you have your selected beverage fresh and cold.

Each bin is equipped with a sensor on its back wall. It will detect if the contents are less than its full capacity and needs to be reloaded immediately. If it is needed to be refilled, the light on the selection button of that particular beverage will flash red.

Some of these parts are also present in other vending machines that sell other merchandise. Without these parts, vending equipment and the vending machine industry would not exist.

Your Body is Your Workout Machine

December 31, 2010
By

There are numerous body weight workouts for women that include weight training and integrate it into a well-balanced workout. With the addition of cardio, this can assist women in changing their lifestyle, weight, BMI, and attitude. I am a fitness and weight loss expert based in Cambridge, Massachusetts with Durbrow Performance Personal Training, and I have some great ideas on how to engage your body in a new method of training that will make a huge difference that you can see and feel.

Many women are afraid to engage in a workout routine that continues past a regular cardio workout. What they fail to realize is that although cardio burns calories, weight training helps to trim and sculpt your new body. It is vital that both of these things meet and create balance.

Walking lunges – Use barbells that are about 15 pounds to start. Hold one in each hand. Put your right leg out in front of you and bend both legs until your right knee almost touches the ground. Then come back to a standing position. Switch legs. Go as far as you can!

Pull ups – Pull ups can be a scary proposition in most body weight workouts for women. Usually, a pull up is when you hang from a bar that is off of the ground. You cannot touch the floor. You must pull yourself up only by your arm muscles to make your face meet the bar. Then, lower yourself down without touching the floor. Repeat. Here is an alternate option. Hang a strap from a pull up bar so that it hangs down. Lower yourself below the strap and pull up so that your arms are by your sides. This is the opposite of a pull up but works the same muscles. It allows you to build up your strength before you get to the real thing.

Squat jumps – Bend your legs so that you’re in a squat position with your feet shoulder width apart. Leap into the air and when you land, bend your knees. Repeat as far as you can go. This is similar to playing Leapfrog, but you won’t remember hurting this much when you played leap frog as a kid! Tons of fun and great for your glutes.

Push ups – Push ups are a great way to get your body in tune and fit as a fiddle! Can’t handle a full pushup yet? Try doing a pushup on your knees. Another great way to engage your body in a pushup is doing it on top of a yoga ball. The basic pushup is as follows – lay on your stomach on the ground. Your hands should be a little in front of you and on the floor palm down. Your feet should be shoulder width apart. Push up from the ground using your back. Repeat. When you go down, don’t let your body touch the ground – only allow it to hover over before pushing back up to the top of the your length.

Boxing – boxing is easy, fun, and can help you get out any aggression you might be holding onto! Put on some boxing gloves, find a boxing bag, and go to town! Make sure to hit with your knuckles to cause as little damage as possible to your hand. Let that invisible opponent have it!

Using A Rowing Machine For Fitness Training

October 6, 2010
By

A rowing machine is one of the best fitness machines in the gym because it workouts the whole body all at the same time. A rowing machine workouts your arms, chest, back and legs. Rowing is a low impact exercise that do not put stress the knees and ankles. Although your legs are in full motion when exercising on the rowing machine, your legs do not bang on hard surfaces therefore it is good for your knees. Many runners and treadmill users have switched to using rowing machine as an alternative exercise. Rowing is also a good cardiovascular exercise and an excellent way to tone up your body. You can burn up to eight hundred calories per hour by working out on the rowing machine. Aside from losing weight, you will be working out your heart and lungs too. The constant rhythmic movements of the rowing machine is also known to have a calming effect on the user. If you do not like to go to the gym, you might consider buying an indoor rowing machine. This is the only fitness machine that you need because it exercises all major muscles of your body.

Factors to consider when Choosing a Rowing Machine

If you are buying a new rowing machine, here are some tips for you. There are a few different types of resistance which rowing machines use. Rowing machines using air resistance are better than hydraulic resistance machines, however air resistance rowing machines are known to be noisy. Hydraulic resistance rowers are the cheapest kind but also the most unpopular as they do not allow large range of motion. Magnetic rowing machines are much more quiet and offer better resistance, but they are more expensive. Water resistance rowing machines simulates actual watercraft rowing. Water resistance rowing machines have a wide range of designs and are generally more expensive. Besides the different kinds of resistance, the other considerations are the price, size of the machine, comfort level of the seat and the different functions the rowing machines support. If you are on a budget, you can consider buying a used rowing machine. You can look at the classifieds in you local papers or search for used rowers on auctions sites like eBay. You might just be lucky enough to get a used rowing machine at a cheap price.

Rowing Machine Exercises

Rowing machine exercises can be incorporated to your daily fitness program too. A rowing machine exercise regimen will surely increase your fitness level and stamina. Many sports athletes and soccer players use rowing machines to train up leg strength. If you are a beginner, you will probably want to do some light training on the machine first in order to let your muscles get used to the machine. Whether you want to lose weight, build muscles or improve on your strength and stamina, there is definitely a rowing machine that suits you.

How to Use the Nespresso C100 Automatic Espresso Machine

September 10, 2010
By

We made a recent visit to my brother-in-law’s place and got to try his new Nespresso machine which formulates different coffee concoctions from individual single-serve coffee capsules. Wow, not only were we fascinated by the coffee it made, but also with how the Nespresso is so handy and easy to use. So we decided to make a review on this very interesting new product in the market.

It is so easy to use – you simply lift the lever situated atop the machine and put in a single-serve coffee capsule. Make sure there is water in the tank, put a cup directly underneath the spout and make your option of either espresso or regular coffee with a press on a button. In an instant, you got yourself a perfectly brewed cup of coffee! The more difficult part will be deciding which flavor you want to try.

Now if you’re in for a cup of latte or cappuccino, you simply need to make an additional step using the milk frother to either froth or heat the milk with the press of one button in less than a minute or so. There are corresponding indicators that suggest the amount of milk you should use once you have chosen your preferred cup size or coffee type.

Nespresso C100-US-AERO Essenza Automatic Single-Serve Espresso Machine with Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother:

- ThermoBlock heating system to assure water is heated to the ideal extraction temperature.
- High-pressure 19-bar pump perfectly extracts the body and aroma for a smooth crema each time.
- Button selection for the amount of coffee you want in your cup – 40 ml for espresso or 110 ml for long.
- Removable, easy to clean and refill 41-ounce water tank.
- Used capsules automatically ejects into a container which holds 14 capsules and is easy to remove.
- A wide range of available Nespresso premium coffee blends, including decaffeinated.
- Your initial purchase comes with 12 assorted capsules to test out so you will know what blends to reorder.
- Comes in a solid and functional design in black or titanium finish.
- This 1200-watt espresso machine measures 11-1/2 by 6-1/2 by 10 inches.

The C-100 Espresso Single-Serve comes with the Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother.

- Cordless operation with automatic shut-off feature.
- It can froth 4-1/2 ounces or heat up to 8-1/2 ounces of milk and has dosage markers inside the jug.
- Easily froths milk in less than a minute.
- Comes with a drip-free spout and a handle that stays cool althroughout.
- It measures 4 by 4 by 6-2/3 inches (not including the handle).

I have to admit that lattes have been my favorite for awhile but after experimenting with the different, easy-to-prepare nespresso capsules, espresso has become my new favorite.

If you’re someone who adores the exquisite taste and aroma of different coffee flavors, you’ll absolutely love this Nespresso C100 fully automatic espresso machine. It prepares the best espresso cup to perfect precision, just like they make it in your favorite cafes and coffee bars. Having this espresso machine at home will be a great addition to any kitchen and will be the perfect companion for small social gatherings you have in your home.

Using an Ultrasound Therapy Machine to Treat Tendonitis at Home

July 30, 2010
By

Located at the ends of muscles, tendons attach muscle to bones. While tendons are inherently resilient, they can be easily torn or injured because they are located at sites of limited blood flow and constant tugging, and are not very flexible. Small tendon tears can snowball into a chronic condition known as tendonitis, which causes both irritation and soreness. Tendinitis problems are very common injuries and unless proper treatment is sought, can persist for years.

Symptoms of tendinitis are varied but can include tenderness or sharp pains and inflexibility in the affected tendon. During the day and after strenuous exercise is when tendonitis pain will most likely be at its worst, as well as stiff tendon and joint areas the day after. The tendons used in repetitive work or exercises will be most affected by chronic tendonitis.

By stretching the muscles that are most use, you can help prevent tendinitis. When you stretch, the tendon’s link to the muscle can gain flexibility, because it is increasing in length, which means the tendon will be less likely to develop tears. Tendonitis can become a severe chronic condition if it is not diagnosed and treated properly and quickly.

Chronic tendonitis sufferers can now relieve the pain and speed the healing and recovery process by using a portable home ultrasound machine. In the past, only pro athletes and those that could afford treatment were able to receive ultrasound therapy from their chiropractor. Now, ultrasonic ultrasound can be used in the comfort of your own home to treat many painful conditions.

Using sound waves to treat tendon muscle spasms, pain, and inflammation, therapeutic ultrasound is an effective method for tendon rehabilitation. Doctors and physical therapists since the 1940’s have used ultra sound therapy systems and long established both the safety and effectiveness of this modality. Ultrasound waves penetrate the outer layers of the skin to reach deep tissues, causing the tissues to vibrate and producing a deep heat to soothe inflammation and relieve pain. In addition, ultra sonic devices increase blood flow and oxygen to reduce local swelling and speed the tendon healing process.

A chronic condition like tendinitis means continual re-injury which leads to a build-up of scar tissue, limited range of motion, decreased performance and ceaseless pain. For tendon injuries, you need a specific kind of ultrasound machine that is meant to treat soft tissue injuries. Look to purchase a home ultrasound machine that emits 1Mhz ultrasonic waves, is FDA approved, quality manufactured and comes with a 1 year warranty, at the minimum.

Home ultrasound physical therapy units are safe for use by the general public because they utilize pulsed ultrasound waves. Pulsed ultrasound is just as effective as a doctor’s continuous wave ultrasound machine, but treatments will be more often. With a portable therapeutic ultrasound machine, you can treat your tendonitis daily in the comfort of your own home, making tendonitis physical therapy and rehab a breeze.
