You know that being pregnant is every woman’s dream. Pregnancy is a time where you have to be careful with yourself. Many factors affect the development of a fetus into a healthy child.

Whether you like it or not there are pregnancy risks that you have to aware of. Just check on this list. Are you familiar with it? If so, try to avoid it!

Don’t drink alcohol! You going to jeopardise your baby’s development. If you don’t want to have low birth weight baby, and having medical problems, better stop drinking once you know that you are pregnant.

Don’t smoke! Chemical inhaled while smoking may cause premature birth, miscarriage, bleeding, etc. Also it reduced the amount of oxygen that baby receives. What ever you are, don’t smoke and avoid second hand smoke.

Don’t drink coffee. Caffeine in the coffee has been shown to affect fetal heart rates. Caffeine can also increase risk of stretch marks. If you can’t stop immediately, try to stop gradually.

Don’t do too much exercise! No doubt if moderate exercise is helpful for mother’s mental state and can increase oxygen flow to the fetus. However, too much exercise can be dangerous. Better you do activities like walking, swimming, and yoga.

Don’t get near to chemicals substance! Be careful with unnatural chemicals, such as pesticides. If you consume vegetables or fruits, don’t forget to wash them. Or remove the outer surface of vegetables or fruit so pesticides which rest on the outside of the vegetable or fruit will be thrown away.

Don’t consume drugs or herbal remedies that are not prescribed by doctors. What you consume might affect your unborn baby.

Don’t forget to eat nutritious foods. Good nutrition is crucial to a developing child. At least you consume 400-1000 micrograms of B vitamin (folic acid) which can be taken from leafy vegetables, orange juice, and beans.

Don’t have multiple sex partners which may lead to birth and pregnancy complications cause by STD’s risk. Once you infected by STD, you may have premature baby or low birth baby.

Preventing is better than curing. If you can prevent yourself by not doing those kinds of activities, hopefully you going to have a healthy and normal baby. Try to acknowledge this on your first month of pregnant. Read more information on avoiding pregnancy at

Baby and Kids Swim Wear Options

January 14, 2011
By

Swimming and other water sports are fun activities, not only for kids but for adults as well. Children however are more sensitive and are susceptible to skin rash and risks of drowning and therefore require appropriate swimwear to reduce such risks. The market is flooded with different types of swimsuits and parents may not know what or where to buy the best swimwear for their children.

Swimsuits, costumes and wet suits offer protection and warmth to your child when he/she is playing in water. These are available in all sizes. They are designed to fit children between the ages of 1-14. When choosing baby swimsuits for children aged 3 and below, ensure they fit in with nappies in order to avoid mishaps in the pool. Most swimsuit and wet suit fabrics offer up to 97% protection from the ultra violet rays of the sun. The most popular fabrics include polyester, spandex, lycra and most recently, neoprene. The suits should have a soft lining and if possible, obtain an extra vest to be worn under the suit to provide more warmth. This is important especially when the children are playing in water for a long time. The fabric should also dry up easily once the child is out of water.

Swimsuits and wet suits come in different designs depending on the sport or activity one is engaged in. Full wetsuits are more appropriate for diving, snorkeling and other deep-water sports. The short designs are appropriate for activities like surfing and swimming. Since children are vulnerable to cold weather, the wet suits and swimsuits should come with wrappers and towels to keep them warm once they are out of water.

Swimming jackets and floaters offer protection against drowning and are normally worn on top of the swimsuit. The jacket must fit the child reasonably. Ensure the jackets have good fasteners such as zippers or snaps, making it easy to wear or remove them. Make sure the floaters and jackets are made from genuine products and not counterfeits. Fake floaters do not give the same high quality service provided by the bona fide products. Your child is exposed to serious risk if the floater or jacket is a counterfeit. Check for the approval mark of the Coast Guard or any other recognized standardization body on the jackets to confirm their authenticity. Other accessories like sunglasses and hats are also available for protection against the sun. Beach shoes are available to protect the child’s feet. Some shops even offer a trunk for carrying all the swimming costumes, swimwear and swimming accessories.

If your child is old enough to choose his/her own swimming costume and swimming accessories, allow him/her to do so, as you provide guidance where necessary. If the child is too young, choose brightly colored swimwear with patterns or pictures. Many outlets sell children’s swimming costumes at affordable prices. However, even with the best swimming costumes and accessories, children should always be under supervision when playing in water.

It Aint Baby Fat – Obese Kids Are In Danger

First, the statistics. About a third of American children are overweight and one-fifth are obese – and the numbers are increasing every year. Surprisingly, not too many parents seem to be concerned about this, or the health risks involved. They seem to suffer from the delusion that it’s just “baby fat” that will melt away as kids get older. But research increasingly shows that fat kids become fat adults, with higher risks for many health problems.

Doctors, conducting ultrasound tests to probe inside their young subjects, found that obese children, as young as 10, had the arteries of 45-year-olds; not to mention other heart abnormalities that greatly raise their risk of heart disease. The studies were reported at an American Heart Association conference recently. The American Academy of Pediatrics determined that obesity is not benign in children and adolescents; and recommended cholesterol-lowering drugs for some children.

A study recently conducted by the Children’s Hospital in Kansas City found that the “vascular age” of obese children was about 30 years older than their actual age. A separate study tied childhood obesity to abnormal enlargement of the left atrium, one of the chambers of the heart. Enlargement is a known risk factor for heart disease, stroke and heart rhythm problems. A third study conducted by the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia, also used ultrasound tests and found impairment in the heart’s ability to relax between beats in children who were overweight or obese.

Ironically, the current lean financial times in the United States is actually making Americans fatter. This is because it’s cheaper to get hamburgers and fries from a fast food chain than to but meat and vegetables from a supermarket.

The bottom line, then, is that having fat kids is not an indulgence. By turning a blind eye to your children’s waistlines, you are actually putting their adult lives in danger.

How to Lose Baby Weight Fast

November 22, 2010
By

If you have just had your little bundle of joy, I am sure you must be wondering how to lose baby weight fast and get in shape as as quickly as possible.

Here are a couple of easy tips to help you lose baby weight fast so that you can shock your husband once again with your lovely figure. Though most people say that since it has taken you 9 months to put on this much of weight, so will it take to lose this fat, but it is not so. You can get back in shape much faster than that.

How to Lose Baby Weight Fast

1. Continue Breastfeeding: It is not only good for your little bundle of joy, but also helps you lose weight rapidly. You can lose extra 500 calories a day if you continue to breastfeed your kid.

2. Take whole foods instead of the white versions. For instance avoid white bread etc.

3. No More Soft Drinks and Sodas: Replace sodas and soft drinks with water. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. Water is a natural appetite suppressant. Better still, squeeze in a fresh lemon to burn fat.

4. Get Physically Active: Though it might take a little time before you can join a gym, try walking briskly. Walk to the local shop rather than drive to it. It is a great way to enjoy fresh air and burn some extra fat. When your body permits, do something enjoyable such as join a Jazz class. You will be amazed to see the difference it can do to your body.

Moreover, I can suggest you a weight reduction pill which is absolutely safe for weight loss after pregnancy. In fact it is a fat binding pill that prevents up to 28% fat in your diet from being absorbed by your body, thereby limiting your fat intake. It is clinically approved and is 100% natural with Hoodia Gordonii being one of its ingredients.

Proactol is the fat binding pill for which not only helps limit fat intake but also help reduce food cravings and suppresses appetite naturally and without any side effects. IT has been listed as one of the Top 5 Ways to Lose Weight by The Telegraph, UK and I am sure that happens not for nothing.

Further still, if you do not feel like taking a pill, you can try Strip That Fat system which is an amazing diet program that helps you lose fat and not water form your body. This is just the reason why weight loss with this system results in long term weight loss unlike other diet programs that make you slim by reducing water weight in your body which you are likely to gain back again.

Though above two are the best options, I feel Proactol is the beat way of losing baby weight fast and to keep weight off from coming back.

October 29, 2010
By

Creating a checklist is always a good idea when planning a special occasion. A baby shower is one of the most meaning occasions in a mother’s life, which is why it has to be planned carefully. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, but one must consider some important things to make it memorable and successful.

If you are plan to throw a baby shower to an expectant mom, here are the essential things that must be included on your checklist.

1. Baby Shower Invitations – these printed cards are the primary elements of baby showers. Without them, inviting friends and loved ones especially those who live far, would difficult. The baby shower invitations should carry the theme of the occasion (if there’s any). Typically, there are sent out a month prior to the date of the event. While they can be purchased pre-made at a specialty shop, you are free to print invitations at home. Just be creative when making homemade invitations. Use your computer to find free templates online.

To know the exact number of the guests who are sure to come, enclose RSVP. You may also include the information about the mom’s registry. This way, invited people will easily be informed about where they will find her registry and what she really wants to receive. And while you are on your way to finish all the invitations, consider preparing thank you cards after it. These will be sent out to the guests who have joined the mom-to-be on her baby shower and a way to thank them for bringing gifts for her.

2. Decorations – decorating a baby shower usually depends on the theme and the venue. You don’t have to pick decorations that are too elaborate. In fact, it would be safe and best to stick with simple embellishments. Balloons, streamers, banners and a few table centerpieces would enough to accentuate the entire room.

3. Ice Breakers – consider games and other fun activities that will keep everyone away from boredom. Baby shower games may also be according to the theme of the shower. They should be fun so that everyone will be encouraged to join. Fun and exciting games are excellent ideas to keep the party alive and kicking!

4. Prizes and Favors –don’t forget to choose tokens for the game prizes. Sometimes, baby shower favors are also used as game prizes, but if you want, you may select different tokens to congratulate the winners. On the other hand, baby shower favors are traditionally given to thank the guests for coming and spending time with the mom-to-be. They are also keepsakes of the event.

5. Feeding Supplies – aside from the menu, you may also want to consider party plates, cups, and party spoons and forks. In case you don’t want to use your own plates at home or you want to bring the theme on the plates and cups, there are lots of party stores where you can find disposable feeding supplies that feature different designs and themes for baby showers.

To find these basic essentials, it would be more convenient for you to shop online. There are lots of websites these days that specialize in baby showers and party supplies, including baby shower invitations, decorations, baby shower games, baby shower favors and a lot more.

Five Easy Steps To Potty Train Your Baby

October 29, 2010
By

No…Don’t let your child pee or poop every where and make your life miserable. Try to potty training your child since baby. Starting since newborn is not a bad idea. Some mom say the sooner you potty train your baby the better you find the result. Thus, parents who will let nature take it course will find that it will take a very long time for their child to be dry at night.

But it is also understood if parents feel that they baby is not ready for potty training. Potty training is a learning process, so you and your child should all be ready. Your child has to understand what you want, and then has to learn how to do it.

1. Those who succeeded in potty training since baby said they started by wearing their baby a clothes diaper. It saved so much money since you don’t need to use expensive disposal diaper. Cloth diapers are made of an absorbent material, such as cotton. Cotton is the best natural fiber for absorbency. When the cotton fibers comes in contact with a liquid, each fiber will absorb as much liquid as it can hold, then pass the remaining liquid to the next dry fiber until all the liquid is absorbed. Baby who wears clothes will feel uncomfortable wet feeling and the knowledge that they can prevent it. Most babies will wake up dry in the morning at several months of age, demonstrating that they are physically able to “hold it”.

2. The second step is to make your baby understand more about his body. It’s only natural during this development stage that your child notices the parts of his body. He may be able to name some parts like his eyes and feet. He knows his eyes see. He knows his feet walk. Now, he’s beginning to know what the beginning of a bowel movement or bladder feels like. Since that he realizes what happened to his body and why he needs to go to the bathroom, he will understand that potty training is important. By that time, it will be easier for you to potty training.

3. After your baby gets bigger take him into the bathroom when you go. That way, they know what’s going on in there. Talk to them about what toilets are for. If you are a woman at home all day with boy children, encourage Daddy to show them how it’s done.

4. For the continuity of potty training, buy 3 or 4 of those cheap little molded plastic potties and put them around the house. At least, one in each bathroom and one in the kitchen or the room where you spend the most time with your child. Stick a towel underneath for the sake of your carpet if said child is a boy.

5. Last but not least, always give your baby appreciation for what he/she has done. One popular method is to give stickers and a calendar to keep track of his/her successes. Every time he/she goes to the potty, your baby gets a sticker that he can then paste onto the page.

If your child starts to lose interest but is well into toilet training, you may want to consider offering other rewards.
